FAQ
Does MacLens make my Mac faster?
No. MacLens does not promise a faster Mac or a specific amount of free space. It shows storage, memory, and other readings from macOS, and it does not invent a speed score.
What gets deleted, and what goes to the Trash?
Caches you confirm on the Cleanup page are deleted right away, so the space comes back now. The apps that created them rebuild them when they need them. Large files you select, and apps you move from the Apps page, go to the Trash. MacLens never empties the Trash. You can put those items back until you empty it yourself.
What is free, and what are the two purchases?
The free app includes the storage overview, leftover caches, caches of apps you use, large files, unused apps, Mac health, and developer storage totals. Advanced Cleanup ($12.99, one time) adds caches of apps you have not opened in 60 days, duplicate review, and full cleanup history. Developer Pack ($19.99, one time) includes Advanced Cleanup, plus Xcode DerivedData, package download caches, and Homebrew insights. There is no subscription.
Is there an account?
No. There is no MacLens account and no MacLens server for scans. File names and scan results stay on your Mac. Purchases use your Apple ID and are processed by Apple.
How do I restore a purchase?
Open MacLens, then Settings (Command-comma), then Purchases, then Restore Purchases. Use the same Apple ID you bought with. Developer Pack includes Advanced Cleanup, so you do not need both.
Can my family use a purchase?
Advanced Cleanup and Developer Pack can be shared with Family Sharing when that option is turned on for the products in App Store Connect. Apple applies the share to members of your Family Sharing group.
How do I get a refund?
Refunds are handled by Apple, not by PAPA Tech Solutions. Use reportaproblem.apple.com and sign in with the Apple ID that made the purchase.
How do I remove folder access?
In MacLens, open Settings, then General, then Change next to Home folder. macOS also lists the folders you allowed under System Settings, Privacy & Security, Files and Folders. Refusing or removing a folder does not delete anything.
What does MacLens never touch?
Cache cleanup does not include documents, photos, passwords, settings, or Apple system caches. Docker data, simulator devices, the Android SDK, and local AI models are shown for their size only. MacLens does not delete them.
Does MacLens uninstall Homebrew packages?
No. With Developer Pack it can list Homebrew packages installed more than 90 days ago that nothing else depends on, and it can copy an uninstall command. You run that command yourself if you are sure.
